# Projects

Projects are the crypto platforms, tokens and protocols that Kotofi tracks. They define what content matters and who gets rewarded for talking about them.

### What Is a Project? <a href="#what-is-a-project" id="what-is-a-project"></a>

A **project** is a crypto token or protocol registered on Kotofi. It's the thing you're building or promoting—the token, the protocol, or the idea. Kotofi tracks what people say about your project on X and rewards the creators and discoverers who drive attention to it.

***

### Pre-TGE vs. Post-TGE <a href="#pre-tge-vs-post-tge" id="pre-tge-vs-post-tge"></a>

Projects can be in one of two stages:

* **Pre-TGE** — The token hasn't launched yet. Pre-TGE projects can run YAP campaigns, but setup is done in partnership with Kotofi. Reach out at <contact@kotofi.fun>.
* **Post-TGE** — The token has launched. Post-TGE projects can create and fund YAP campaigns directly on the platform.

### Reward Windows <a href="#reward-windows" id="reward-windows"></a>

Projects can set **reward windows** — start and end dates when rewards are active. This lets you run time-bound campaigns: "Rewards for mindshare about our project from March 1 to June 30."

Outside the window, tweets still get matched and contribute to mindshare, but reward distribution may be paused or configured differently.

### Why Projects Matter <a href="#why-projects-matter" id="why-projects-matter"></a>

Projects are the anchor of Kotofi's reward system. They define *what* gets rewarded. When you register a project and set keywords, handles, and hashtags, you're telling the protocol: "Reward the creators and discoverers who drive attention to this." Campaigns then fund those rewards, and mindshare shows you who's actually moving the needle.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.kotofi.fun/core-concepts/projects.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
